HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY CARPETS CLEANED?

According to the EPA, if you have a smoker, children, and/or pets, AT LEAST ONCE PER YEAR is highly
recommended to provide a cleaner & healthier indoor environment. Cleaning for health should be considered
before cleaning for appearance.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY CARPET TO DRY?

In 1991, the EPA, medical and cleaning industry sat down and came up with the first cleaning code for carpets. As
it discusses the proper way to clean carpet, the bottom line is that carpets
MUST BE DRY within a 24 hour period!
Steam extraction has been recognized as the best cleaning method. Our steam extraction drying time is between 1
to 16 hours.  The encapsulating method dries in an hour or two only absorbing soils ready for you to vacuum when
dry.  It is not a restore method, but very acceptable for medium to light soiling.

WHAT IS THE BEST CLEANER FOR SPOTS?

We tell our customers 4 ounces of white vinegar to 12 ounces of water in a 16 ounce spray bottle, READY AT ALL
TIMES, will remove 90% of what can fall on a carpet. This is to be used as a spotter, not an overall cleaner. At
Floorz to your Doorz we carry a product called
Dry-It-Out that can get up most any spot. Floorz to your Doorz
recommends that store bought products
NOT be used because of the residues these leave behind, (which causes
spots to return), and color change and/or bleaching, especially those "oxi" products.

WHAT IS THE BEST CARPET TO BUY?

FIBER - Stain resist nylon is #1 for clean ability, #2 for wear. STYLE - Frieze hides footprints and premature wear
look. By the way, WOOL is #1 for wear.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF YEAR TO HAVE MY CARPET CLEANED?

Anytime of year! Really the worst time of year is during the humid months only IF you DO NOT have air
conditioning. What is the purpose of AC? To remove moisture from the indoors, right? After a carpet is steam
cleaned, moisture that we can't see is rising to evaporate. AC removes that moisture increasing drying time. In the
winter months, opening a window or two about an inch will help the carpet dry faster because the rising moisture
attracts to the cold walls of your home. Turning up the heat is the worst thing to do. With the windows cracked open
and the heat on the regular setting, when the heat does kick on, the rising moisture will go outside. If you turn up
the heat and don't open a window, all the windows in your home will be wet within hours. Why? Because the
moisture had no where to go!

WHY DOES A SPOT RETURN?

Ninety-nine percent of the time returning spots occur from using one, (or all), of the following;

1). Soaps & laundry presprays (will leave residues on the carpet).  These are for laundry
2). Dishwashing liquids (will leave alot of residue on the carpet).  These are for dishes
3). Store Bought or TV "Miracle" products (will leave residue & possible color change or loss).

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING IF YOU EXPERIENCE RETURNING SPOTS.

Residues are very hard for you to get out of a carpet!  Residues will leave a sticky or rough feel. They attract air
borne particles. Therefore, the spot will appear again.  The rule is if you can't get it out, then don't put it in!  Many
carpet cleaners get blamed for the homeowners problem.

DO CARPETS SHRINK?

NO !!!   Only cotton & jute are capable of shrinking and these are commonly used as backings for wools.  Most
nylons & olefins today have synthetic backings that have a "memory".  If a synthetic backing is ever disengaged
because it was damaged by water for instance, it will only relax back to it's "memory" at the exact size it was before
it was originally installed.

What steam cleaning system is better, truckmount or portable?

Nowadays, there are portables capable of producing the same results as truckmounts.  Many portables can adjust
the water pressure and temperature as truckmounts do.  This is very important for correct cleaning of carpet fibers.
